JOB TITLE: Family Solicitor (9 month Fixed Term Locum Contract)

The highly reputable Family department of a full service Lexcel accredited firm is looking to recruit a dedicated Family Solicitor to join them on an initial 9 month contract basis due to covering the Directors maternity leave. The role involves providing advice and representation to a wide range of individuals in relation to family law, which include but not limited to, divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, separation, ancillary relief, contact, emergency provisions and adoption. The successful candidate will enjoy the services of a very experienced PA/secretary and further support from regulatory and accounts support functions. There are two solicitor posts within the department who share one secretary/PA who will work closely on the files with you, including liaising with Barristers, Courts, Clients etc. The majority of the work is privately funded but the firm does hold a legal aid contract. However, for the period of maternity cover the firm will suspend their legal aid service until the Director returns to the office.
To be considered for the role you must be a qualified Family Solicitor with in excess of 3 years of relevant experience of practicing family law. You will be able to promote yourself and the department’s services, be pro-active and have excellent client care skills. You will be used to working well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines The role is offered with strong secretarial support, however, you will be able to demonstrate excellent IT skills and strong organisational ability. This role will see you join the firm based in Worcestershire in August and run for 9 months.
The firm is set in an idyllic part of Worcestershire. Whilst they firm are full service and work hard and operate fully compliant systems and standards such as Lexcel, it is the antithesis of working in a city firm. The quality of life is lovely, great bars, theatres, music venues, restaurants, spas (as you’d expect) and, of course, the hills. There’s easy access to Worcester, Gloucester, Bristol and Birmingham, as well as excellent connections into London and the rest of the UK. Accommodation is also easy to find and the property costs are low compared to most city environments.
There is scope to grow the firm’s share of the local family law market which will enable the firm to grow the department to sustain two solicitors by the time their Director returns from maternity leave, with genuine potential to increase its size further from there.
