Job Description
London (Hybrid)
Salary up to £60,000 depending on skills and experience
Ready for a change from fee-earning but want to make use of the property expertise you've worked hard to develop?
This could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
Our client, a leading insurer specialising in title risks and property-related insurance, is looking to recruit a Property Underwriter to join its growing team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Residential Conveyancer who is looking to take their career in a new direction, moving away from the pressures of fee-earning and client caseloads without having to leave the property sector behind.
Your knowledge of residential property transactions, title issues, legal documentation and risk assessment will provide an excellent foundation for this role. You will be using the skills and experience you've developed throughout your conveyancing career in a new, commercially focused environment.
No previous underwriting experience is necessary, as full training will be provided.
THE ROLE:
You will be responsible for assessing and underwriting residential property and title-related risks within agreed authority levels, making informed decisions that balance commercial opportunities with risk and profitability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing residential property risks and making sound underwriting decisions.
- Reviewing title-related issues and applying your understanding of property law and conveyancing processes.
- Negotiating and supporting commercially beneficial outcomes.
- Helping to develop and continually review residential insurance products.
- Building and maintaining relationships with solicitors, conveyancers, brokers, clients and internal business teams.
ABOUT YOU:
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced Residential Conveyancers who are ready to explore a different career path.
You could be a Solicitor, Legal Executive, Licensed Conveyancer or experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner who enjoys the technical and problem-solving aspects of property law but is looking for something different from the traditional conveyancing environment.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong knowledge of residential conveyancing and property transactions.
- An understanding of title issues, property risks and legal documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess information and identify potential risks.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commercial outlook and an interest in developing new skills.
- Most importantly, you'll be open to learning something new and keen to put your existing legal and property knowledge to use in a different way.
WHY CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY?
- Move away from traditional fee-earning and the pressures of a conveyancing caseload.
- Make use of your existing property law knowledge and transferable skills.
- Develop a new career within the specialist property insurance sector.
- Receive comprehensive underwriting and product training.
- Enjoy a commercially focused role with opportunities to develop and progress.
HOW TO APPLY:
If you're an experienced Conveyancer considering a change but aren't sure what your next move should look like, this could be worth a conversation.
