Job Description

Court of Protection Solicitor, 2–5 PQE, Hampshire, £65,000–£75,000 DOE. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solicitor to join a highly regarded and expanding Legal 500-ranked team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied and complex caseload, develop your specialist expertise and play a key role within a supportive and collaborative environment – JOB REF: 215305547

THE ROLE
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of clients’ affairs, acting as a key point of contact for clients, their families and other third parties. Working across both Deputyship and Personal Injury Trust matters, you will manage your own caseload and ensure that all matters are handled efficiently and in accordance with OPG Deputyship Standards.
Your responsibilities will include preparing routine and non-routine applications to the Court of Protection, drafting witness statements and supporting documentation, and assisting with the preparation of expert witness statements and OPG Reports. You will also play an active role in the development of team policies and processes, while mentoring and training junior colleagues and delegating work where appropriate. In addition, you will provide assistance to senior members of the team on more complex matters and contribute to the effective management and progression of client affairs.

THE CANDIDATE
Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors with 2–5 years’ PQE and experience in Court of Protection work, ideally with exposure to Deputyship and/or Personal Injury Trust matters. You will have experience managing your own caseload and a good working knowledge of OPG Deputyship Standards. STEP qualification (or working towards it) would be highly advantageous.
You will have strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, alongside excellent written and verbal communication abilities. The role requires someone who can manage a busy workload, meet deadlines, and communicate progress effectively, with sound judgement and the confidence to take responsibility while recognising when matters should be referred to senior colleagues. An interest in business development and contributing growth of the team, including through social media and other channels, would also be welcomed.

THE FIRM
This highly regarded law firm has an established reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice to individuals and businesses, with a strong focus on client service and specialist expertise. The Court of Protection team is recognised in the Legal 500 and continues to expand, offering an excellent platform for lawyers looking to develop their specialist expertise and take on increasing responsibility within a supportive and collaborative environment.

THE PACKAGE
The firm offers a competitive salary, alongside an excellent benefits package. You will benefit from a supportive and collaborative working environment, ongoing training and supervision, and further support for professional development, including STEP qualifications. There will also be opportunities to mentor junior colleagues, take on increased responsibility, and play an active role in the continued growth of the team.
