JOB TITLE: Criminal Defence Solicitor                  
PQE REQUIRED: NQ – 2 Years

SALARY: £35,000 (DOE)                     

THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will handle complex and high-profile criminal cases, including matters involving police officers, medical professionals and regulatory or misconduct investigations. They will work closely with a Senior Solicitor within a small, agile team, providing hands-on legal support and attending court hearings across Yorkshire and occasionally Derby, as required. The role offers the flexibility of remote working while providing exposure to highly specialised areas of criminal law and excellent opportunities to develop practical litigation experience.

THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal canddiate will be a highly motivated, Newly Qualified Solicitor with a strong interest in criminal law and a passion for handling challenging, high-profile cases. The ideal candidate will be confident, proactive and capable of managing sensitive and complex matters involving police officers, medical professionals and regulatory or misconduct investigations. They will thrive in a small, collaborative team, providing specialist legal support directly to a Senior Solicitor and contributing to cases of significant public interest. This is a unique opportunity for a Solicitor looking to develop expertise in highly specialised areas of criminal law.

The practice specialises in regulatory investigations, Police Federation matters, private criminal litigation, sexual offences and misconduct in public office cases. The team is small but highly skilled, consisting of a Senior Solicitors and a Fee Earner, offering the successful candidate direct exposure to complex, high-stakes work. The practice provides a supportive and collaborative environment where contributions are visible and valued. The role offers a competitive salary, 28 days’ holiday, additional incentives following successful completion of probation and reimbursement of travel expenses for court attendances.
